Education Green Paper

Below is an extract from the Education Green Paper, that looks at environmentally responsibilities introduced by individual respondents. Recycling and the use of biodegradable materials continue to be the most popular actions among education sector caterers.

graph2WHAT GREEN INITIATIVES HAVE YOU INTRODUCED IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS?
32% mentioned recycling initiatives and a further 9% biodegradable packaging/products Only 6% mentioned energy including: “More efficient equipment.” “…awareness of using equipment.” “switching electricals off when we are not using.”

graph2RECESSION PROOF
37% of respondents claimed to have become ‘greener despite the recession’, perhaps as a result of public sector budgets that may be seen as more recession resistant, and open to pressure from government legislation and targets.
