Go Green With Gram

Footprint Awards 2011

Gram scoops second award within a month!

Footprint Awards 2011

It looks like we are on a bit of a roll at the moment, as last night we picked up our second award win in a month! And it doesn’t come much better than being acknowledged for our sustainability credentials.

Last night the Gram team headed up to RIBA (The Royal Institute of Architects) to attend the first of the prestigious annual Footprint Awards. The awards, which are run by Foodservice Footprint magazine, are dedicated to recognising outstanding contribution to sustainability and environmental excellence in the foodservice industry, and we were absolutely thrilled to have picked up the award for Best Sustainable Catering Equipment Manufacturer.

As the industry knows, Gram is passionate about and committed to working towards a more sustainable industry so this accolade recognises that it is very much appreciated and is an acknowledgement of our dedication to the manufacture of energy efficient refrigeration. Together with other green awareness initiatives we have driven over the past 12 months, including our ‘Go Green with Gram’ microsite and Gram Green Paper 2010, the award comes as a culmination of the team’s fantastic efforts.

We all had a fantastic night made all the better by the brilliant company of our guests, namely Iain Munro and Robin McKnight from CEDA, David Bentley of the Russell Partnership and soon to be crowned Chairman of the FCSI, Mark Kendall from Inoxequip, Ben Tearall of Bunzl Lockhart, and Steve Evans from Nisbets and Rebecca Riches from our marketing partners, The Hub. The dinner menu was delicious, designed by CH&Co Executive Chef David Cavalier it was in-keeping with the awards programme, containing ingredients which all told an individual story of sustainability.

All in all it was an inspiring evening, with like-minded suppliers, operators and individuals alike, all champions of the cause to work towards a more responsible industry, being acknowledged for their passion and efforts. A huge congratulations to all runners- up and winners with a special shout going out to our friends at Space Catering who picked up Best Sustainable Foodservice Installation at The Scarlet Hotel and Cyrus Todiwala, owner of Café Spice Namaste, who was presented with the coveted Special Achievement award.

The award has already taken pride of place at Gram HQ and is keeping last month’s award for the ACR ‘Refrigeration Product of the Year’ award company in our prize cabinet. With more awards entries coming up this year, fingers crossed for a hat trick.
